The Principal Electro-Optical Engineer will participate in all aspects of the development and test of optical communications systems
The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience in optical comms related electrical design including schematic capture, PCB layout, and testing.This position will report to the Director of Electrical Engineering and will work closely with various engineering teams. This role is based in our Saratoga, CA office.What you'll be doing:Develop PCBA requirements in collaboration with other engineering disciplinesDesign of optical comms related circuits including laser drivers and receivers, power supplies, TIAs, instrumentation, filters, high speed DACs/ADCs, digital processors and interfaces, simulations, etc.Schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium DesignerCircuit analysis including power, tolerance, and reliability relatedPCBA design verification testing and system integration testingProduction manufacturing support as needed\What you bring to this role:Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent15+ years of experience in opto-electrical circuit design, analysis, simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout, and testingDesign proficiency with TOSAs, ROSAs, fiber optics, power supplies, TIAs, instrumentation, filters, high speed DACs/ADCs, digital processors and interfaces, simulations, etc.Proficiency with schematic capture and layout of complex PCBsProficiency performing circuit analyses in signal integrity tools, SPICE, and ExcelProficiency with electronic lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, soldering iron, etc.Demonstrated success working in a dynamic environmentExtra points for the following:Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalentExperience with optical comms system designExperience designing for space environments including radiation impacts and mitigationFamiliarity with Altium DesignerFPGA design skillsC/C++ or Python skillsThis is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office. The target base pay for this position is $170,000 - $220,000 annually. The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities
