TEKsystems is seeking a Principal Engineer for a healthcare client in Hawaii. Candidates must have high-level development experience and expertise in APIs, preferably with MuleSoft. The Principal System Engineer is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining the technology solutions that drive our organization’s success. Responsibilities:
- Lead as a technical authority on complex, cross-functional projects.
- Balance technical leadership with strong business acumen to make informed technology choices.
- Break down complex problems into simple, manageable solutions, understanding system interdependencies and limitations.
- Evaluate system options, considering risk, cost-benefit analysis, and impacts on business processes and goals.
- Provide buy vs. build recommendations within enterprise architecture standards.
- Collaborate with data architects to identify optimal data sources and integration solutions.
- Lead the design and development of technical components for the application.
- Develop technical specifications, reusable components, and frameworks for application teams, utilizing common and domain-specific design patterns.
- Participate in hands-on development and resolve complex issues and incidents.
- Contribute to enterprise application architecture processes, principles, policies, and standards.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring team members to enhance core systems knowledge, coding standards, and development best practices.
- Review and provide input on requirements for implementation of business solutions.
- Perform other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical/business area and 7-10 years of experience in systems analysis, software architecture, and/or application development and support or equivalent work experience.
- Broad understanding of information systems and software architecture standards.
- Advanced programming techniques and knowledge of distributed system architectures and object-oriented design.
- Deep hands-on technical expertise in at least one major technical area, such as full-stack development, cloud-native microservices, and applications, or seamless integration of application systems and platforms, is a plus!
- Healthcare business domain knowledge in areas such as health plan management, healthcare services, clinical integration, and/or healthcare interoperability is a plus!
- Remote position: Must be located in Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, or Arizona and be able to work Hawaii hours.
Compensation: This position offers a pay range of $100,000 - $145,000, depending on experience.
