About the Job
Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.15 years of professional experience with security or security engineering or 13 years of experience with an advanced degree.Experience in architecture or design in one or more of the following: highly reliable/redundant systems, high performance systems, high security/classified systems, privacy sensitive systems, or globally scaled systems using multiple stacks.Preferred qualifications:Expertise in reasoning and quantifying relative impacts and risks of technical work that could require the involvement of thousands of engineers or millions of systems.Deep technical expertise in systems and software, with excellent leadership skills to influence technical leaders across the company.Ability to quickly ramp up in new subject areas with short notice to provide leadership in situations such as incidents or customer escalations.Strong cross-organizational collaboration skills, with ability to navigate diverse viewpoints, and take ownership driving business results that span multiple organizations
About the job As the Principal Engineer, PhysICS (Physical Infrastructure Controls Security) you will be responsible for the technical leadership of the PhysICS program
You will define the overall end to end security architecture for PhysICS
This will include an overall zero trust network/systems design that reduces the potential blast radius of security events by segmentation, access proxies, and explicit authentication/authorization while preserving reliability in the data center environment.You will provide technical leadership over a range of partner teams who have a range of responsibilities for operating in and securing the data center environment
You will guide and influence senior leaders across Google Cloud and Technical Infrastructure to shape the strategic direction of the PhysICS program and to ensure that secure architectures are adopted and implemented.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry

Responsibilities Act as the senior technical leader for PhysICS across Technical Infrastructure.Define the overall end to end security architecture for PhysICS.Drive the adoption of secure architectures/zero trust design in the PhysICS environment to drive improvements in our security posture.Own and drive security initiatives in Technical Infrastructure and collaborate closely with other senior leaders on such initiatives across Technical Infrastructure and more broadly Alphabet.
