Principal Industrial Designer - VVater

VVater is a US-based, next-generation water treatment company that aims to provide Water for All Humankind with a cornerstone of sustainability and a promise of a better, healthier tomorrow. Servicing various industries and markets worldwide, including Real Estate & Aquatics, Municipal & Wastewater Treatment, Food & Beverage, and Oil & Gas, our focus is on recovering and recycling different waters in a centralized or distributed way. The company also provides recreational quality water for artificial beaches, urban lagoons, wave pools, surf parks, and ultra-pure and potable water for various uses.

Job Summary:

VVater is seeking a highly skilled and creative Principal Industrial Designer to lead our industrial design team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in product design, a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to drive innovation. This role requires a visionary individual who can lead design projects from concept to completion, ensuring that our products are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and manufacturable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the industrial design team in the development of innovative and functional product designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and production, to ensure design feasibility and alignment with company goals.
• Conduct user research and analyze market trends to inform design decisions and ensure product relevance.
• Develop and present design concepts, sketches, and prototypes to stakeholders, incorporating feedback and iterating on designs as needed.
• Oversee the creation of detailed design specifications and documentation for manufacturing.
• Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and company guidelines.
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
• Stay updated on the latest design trends, materials, and technologies, and integrate them into the design process.
• Lead design reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure the highest quality of design output.
• Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings, showcasing our design capabilities and fostering relationships.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
• Proven experience as an Industrial Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing innovative and successful product designs.
• Extensive knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes, and materials.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Fusion360, SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar tools.
• Strong sketching and prototyping skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Creative problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices and the ability to integrate them into the design process is a plus.
