Job Summary:
Under close supervision: Coordinates and executes field data collection and/or site observations using standardized procedures. Performs a supporting technical role in more complex projects. Performs or supervises field assignments, authors reports as the primary author, and scopes out and prices small to medium-sized projects involving routine technical objectives, with review by a senior reviewer.
Field Data Collection and Characterization: Under the general supervision of senior staff: Coordinate and execute field data collection using standardized procedures, exercising judgment as to the completeness and accuracy of the data. Make changes to the scope of exploration deemed necessary based on preliminary field data. Evaluate recovered samples or data and assign laboratory tests.
Construction or Site Work Observation: Under general supervision, perform routine site observations during construction where approval or rejection of the work is based on a definite stated criteria or test result rather than subjective interpretation or judgment
Engineering and/or Technical Computations: Under general supervision, perform routine engineering computations for moderately complex projects based on established formulae using variables assigned by more senior staff.
Report Preparation: Prepare professional reports for small-size and/or less complex projects under the general supervision of a registered professional engineer. Assignments will usually have clear and specific objectives or scope and require investigation of a limited number of variables.
Proposal Preparation: Scope out and price small-size projects involving routine technical objectives, with a review by a senior reviewer.
Business Development: Participate in local professional organizations and accompany more senior staff on client/project visits or meetings.
Design and Analysis/Solutions: Under close supervision, make a preliminary selection of alternatives, recommendations, and adaptations of engineering alternatives on less complex projects, subject to review by senior staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline
- 1+ years of related experience
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, a plus
- Good business and technical writing skills
- Must be able to effectively manage budgets and invoicing
