This team serves a critical function, much like Corporate Planning does for other areas of the business. We work closely with Corporate Planning to ensure we deliver comparable or enhanced levels of service to our internal partners, aligning our efforts to meet business needs.

Day in life :
+ Provide resource management and financial planning support to one or more operating areas under the COO, including Line Operations, Strategy and Planning, Engineering & Design, and others.
+ Coordinate activities such as budget vs. actual reporting, source transfers, 5-year planning, unit cost analysis, and forecasting for repeatable work.
+ Conduct deep-dive analysis on budget and resource forecasting as needed to support informed decision-making.
+ Partner with managers to review budget/actuals, O&M planning, source transfers, and accruals. This detailed scrutiny helps improve budget adherence and financial accuracy.
+ Offer guidance on accounting practices, interpret financial results, and identify and correct discrepancies. For example, recognizing opportunities to repurpose fleet equipment or converting O&M costs to capital or DOSE when appropriate.
+ Lead the creation of a resource management plan, with an initial focus on union positions for budgeting purposes, expanding to include back-office resources as capital projects grow.

Responsibilities
+ Specialization Typically specializes in integrated resource planning, strategic analytics or commercial analytics but may perform work in more than one area of specialization.
+ Resource Planning
+ Evaluates resource needs to meet forecasted loads and load patterns; performs technical and economic analysis of resource options using simulation models to evaluate and identify the mix of resources that support corporate objectives and meet applicable regulatory rules and guidelines.
+ Uses or develops simulation models to evaluate the cost and risk of multiple portfolio scenarios; recommends, advises and assists management in formulating long-term resource strategies and initiative integration. Provides best-practice technical expertise and analysis for resource portfolio strategy to company management and external clients.
+ Develops and/or improves analytical and evaluation approaches to better capture and understand the trade- offs between different supply, demand, energy and capacity resource options.
+ Leads and/or personally provides complex analyses for individual resource and project investment decisions.
+ Tracks status of new generation projects and resource options in the Pacific Northwest; serves as organizational subject matter expert.
+ Prepare Plans and Reports Serves as company technical expert for the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). Provides technical leadership, peer reviews input and provides feedback to other technical contributors to the plan. Coordinates the integration of analyses, cross-functional feedback and inputs to the plan. Ensures IRP and solutions meet all analytical, regulatory and procedural requirements, such as Oregon Public Utilities Commission (OPUC) and other state and federal regulatory requirements and that solutions are safe, cost-effective and timely and follow sound business practices. Ensure the IRP accurately reflects the resource opportunities available to PGE. Formulates and communicates resource action plans.
+ Corporate Strategy Leads analysis to identify, quantify or otherwise support long-term PGE strategic objectives. Leads analysis to support the identification of near-term targets consistent with PGE’s long-term strategic objectives.
+ Commercial Evaluation and Support Leads and/or personally provides complex analyses for individual resource and project investment decisions. Develops procurement processes to evaluate and select new supply and demand-side alternatives to meet the resource requirements identified in the IRP.

+ Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering or related financial or scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
+ Experience Typically eight or more years in utility or similar energy sector experience in the area(s) of engineering, power operations, economic forecasting, accounting, finance or regulatory affairs or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Senior
+ Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering or related financial or scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
+ Experience Typically five or more years in utility or similar energy sector experience in the area(s) of engineering, power operations, economic forecasting, accounting, finance or regulatory affairs or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
+ Advanced knowledge of Utility Operations processes, challenges, and opportunities.
+ Advanced knowledge of resource strategy concepts and considerations to identify and evaluate potential opportunities for resource acquisition.
+ Advanced knowledge of analytical techniques and cost-modeling theory and practices.
+ Advanced knowledge of electric market modeling and forecasting tools.
+ Advanced knowledge of applicable statutes, policies, rules, regulations and codes.
+ Advanced skills in using database applications (Oracle SQL, Snowflake).
+ Intermediate skills with programming languages and tools used in department, such as Tableau.

Compensation Range:
$85,500.00 - $169,875.00
Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity.
