We are looking for a **Principal Software Engineer** with a passion for delivering well-designed, scalable, and reliable software for large-scale projects. **Responsibilities**
+ Produce extensible and maintainable designs and code.
+ Implements high quality code, maintainable code to be used across products with designs.
+ Optimize, debug, and refactor code to improve performance and maintainability, and effectiveness.
+ Apply debugging tools and examine logs, telemetry, and other methods to verify assumptions through writing and developing code proactively before issues occur and reactively as issues occur for products.
+ Leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service or platform.
+ Demonstrates deep understanding of up and downstream effects of solutions and work provided to ensure appropriate security and performance, driving reliability in the solutions.
+ Independently creates clear plans for testing and assuring the quality of solutions and defines success for the outcomes of tests.
+ Leads efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility across solutions and teams.
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and releasing complex software systems and services using a major cloud technology stack such as Azure or Amazon Webservices (AWS)
**Other Requirements:**
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
+ OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
+ OR Python
+ OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and releasing complex software systems and services using Azure
+ Working knowledge of modern software development methodologies and tools that enable these, such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, etc.
+ The ability to lead by example and mentor others to produce high quality, extensible, and maintainable code.
+ Proficiency in computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
+ Effective communication and collaboration skills and ability to drive cross-organizational initiatives.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
