The Principal functions as the school’s educational director and is responsible for the daily administration, coordination, and supervision of the educational, behavioral, and related services components of the school. In the course of planning, developing, and monitoring school operations, this position assures that all elements of the school maintain COMAR compliance and that the school fulfills all contractual and budgetary obligations.

• Monitor the school climate and maintains proper rules, safety, and security of students, providing crisis intervention as needed. Assures a safe learning environment for students.
• Design, schedule, implement, designate, monitor, and assess professional development and supervision.
• Coordinate the admissions process, including policies, review of referrals, pre-admission interviews and placement decisions.
• Communicate regularly with instructional, resource and clinical staff, as well as with representatives from local school systems, to assure appropriate services for all students. Attends IEP team meetings involving review of placement, changes in service provision or crisis intervention.
• Coordinate the overall student scheduling, class assignments, transcript reviews and implementation of the educational and behavioral components of the school.
• Monitor school documentation, in conjunction with the Administrative Team and Program Assistant.
• Oversee the development, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of policies, procedures, administrative files and continually assesses the overall program to assure optimum educational, behavioral, and clinical function, as well as COMAR compliance.
• Operate the educational program within approved budgetary guidelines.
• Complete all required reporting, both for the purposes of internal use and for the MSDE.
• Inform the Associate Vice President of all relevant situations.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
• Share/transmit the mission and vision of Arrow Child & Family Ministries to staff and to students and families served.
• Review client files on a quarterly basis to access service plan implementation, progress towards desired outcomes, and future appropriateness of service plan.
• Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, Arrow policy, and COA standards.
• May be required to drive ACFM vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, andcomplete Arrow’s vehicle training.
Master’s Degree is required. At least five (5) years of teaching experience with students of a similar
population to the school applied to, and at least three (3) years of progressive supervisory and
administrative experience.
Licensure requirements vary by school.
• For schools serving only students receiving special education, a valid Standard Professional Teaching
Certificate in the area of Special Education is required. Advanced Professional Certifications are
preferred.
• For schools serving both students receiving special education and students receiving general education services, a valid Standard Professional Teacher Certificate is required, and may be required in a general education area, Special Education, or both. Advanced Professional Certifications are preferred.
