PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Responsible for administration, maintenance and support of existing enterprise production database environments supporting mission critical systems. Protect integrity and access to all corporate and physician practice data. Provide technical leadership to peer and junior personnel.
SQL SERVER SKILLS:
- 5-8+ years SQL Server DBA experience
- Experience supporting large scale OTLP DB’s
- Experience with High Availability configurations
- Experience troubleshooting performance issues using DMVs and vendor tools like SolarWinds DPA, etc..
- Experience writing custom monitoring or automation scripts using PowerShell and T-SQL
- Awareness of physical hardware environment
- Experience supporting MongoDB clusters is a plus
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for administration, maintenance and availability of enterprise Production server environments including cluster, mirror and replication.
- Ensure backup and recoverability of all enterprise server databases.
- Ensure data security. Define, create, develop, and implement database access control policies and procedures, complying with SOX and HIPAA requirements.
- Work with Data Architect on long term strategy to ensure integrated database systems. Advise on physical data model and implement changes.
- Responsible for capacity planning, working closely with Infrastructure group to allocate appropriate database resources on servers.
- Contribute to the ongoing creation and development of technology and production processes company-wide. Keep abreast of new design tools, hardware, software and technology and make recommendations for future deployment.
- Provide technical leadership. Mentor junior DBA’s on the team on database technical details. Provide technical assistance to developers.
- Monitor server databases to ensure optimum performance, analyzing and resolving performance issues ensuring maximum uptime. Develop new methods where appropriate.
- Create, develop, and maintain quality control and auditing of databases.
- Coordinate and lead technical project managers, developers and other team members to coordinate database requirements across projects.
- Triage/track outstanding issues, providing solutions to resolve defects and issues.
- Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for implementation of data and database changes.
- Develop and adhere to common database standards and procedures within a production operations unit. Maintain documentation related to database platforms, guidelines, methods and standards.
- Interact with business users verifying or helping to verify data integrity.
- Responsible for administration, analysis, design, and creation of new server databases.
- Develop strong relationships across projects to proactively anticipate emerging data needs and further leverage existing informational resources.
- Document and improve existing processes related to operations and daily work.
- May escalate difficult/complex issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary.
- Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Assist with various projects as assigned by a direct supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 5-8+ years’ related experience; or a Master’s degree with 6 years’ experience; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent directly related work experience.
- Demonstrated ability using database monitoring tools.
- Strong performance tuning skills.
- Strong problem solving skills in virtualize and high transactional enterprise systems.
- Ability to be proactive and work well under pressure.
- Must be able to read and comprehend complex technical documents.
- Must be able to work extended hours as needed and limited overnight travel will be required as needed.
