Title:Principal / Supervisor of Special Education
Salary: Starting at $110000 / annually - depending on education / experience
Job Summary: Provide leadership, guidance, direction, coordination and support to the Mary A. Dobbins School, a NJ state certified special education school. Serve as the educational leader to develop and maintain a therapeutic and educational milieu that is in keeping with the values and clinical treatment philosophy of The Children’s Home ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state and federal requirements.
Responsibilities:- Quality Improvement: Engage in activities like consumer feedback, incident reviews, grievance resolution, and program evaluation.
- Budget Management: Develop and oversee the education budget following agency processes.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to agency policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit various reports to the Chief Executive Office Emeritus, including monthly and quarterly updates.
- Strategic Planning: Participate in agency strategic and annual planning.
- Collaboration: Work with key coordinators to support student enrollment and revenue goals.
- Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise educators and educational staff, ensuring appropriate credentials.
- Supervision: Oversee Social Workers, IEP Case Managers, BCBAs, and educational personnel.
- IEP Compliance: Ensure compliance with IEPs and collaboration with school districts.
- Curriculum Development: Supervise curriculum aligned with NJ Core Curriculum and manage materials.
- Holistic Support: Collaborate with various coordinators to address students' and families' needs.
- Professional Development: Manage training programs for education department employees.
- Record Compliance: Ensure all student records meet regulatory standards for timeliness and completeness.
- Community Representation: Act as a representative for the agency in the community with various stakeholders.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Doctorate degree in Education Leader is required along with a Principal and Special Education Supervisory certification in NJ.
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher, Supervisor of Special Education and as a Building Principal.
- Participate in a minimum of twelve hours of training per year and assist in the training of Legacy Treatment staff. Training curriculum to include, but is not limited to: (a) principles of behavior management; (b) alcohol, tobacco and substance abuse; (c) human sexuality and AIDS; and (d) suicide prevention. The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be able to walk, run, lift, push, pull and bend.
