Principal Systems Engineer
Sterling Heights, MI OR Minneapolis, MN
Duration: 6 month contract (temp to perm)
Responsibilities:
Lead or support requirements development and management.
Develop and manage subsystem and component performance specifications by analyzing and deriving necessary requirements
Develop and maintain requirements verification and compliance, and supporting artifacts
Support requirements decomposition analysis to help drive concept architectures and system characteristics
Lead and facilitate architecture development of assigned system, subsystems, and components
Lead development and maintenance of interface requirements and interface design information for assigned sub-system, system and components
Document concept design decisions and support generating System/Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDDs) and capability assessments.
Coordinate and facilitate formal decisions and trade studies to drive design and document results.
Support the execution and monitoring of cost, schedule, and risk
Coordinate Systems Engineering activities to influence the design.
Support vehicle level Systems Engineering activities and program milestone reviews.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 6+ year’s relevant experience.
Systems engineering experience performing requirements analysis, derivation and allocation, and translating requirements to viable concepts design solutions within applicable constraints
Experience developing architecture concepts and evaluating alternatives
Ability to balance system design considering system concept of operations (CONOPS), performance, constraints, and logistics concerns
Ability to plan, conduct and document complex trade studies.
Ability to generate System/Subsystem Design Descriptions and capability assessments per the program statement of work
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Support requirements development and management.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 6+ year’s relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Logical architecture experience, including development of use cases.
Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML methodology and tools like Cameo.
Familiarity with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
Have and maintain INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification
Guidance and mentoring of younger engineers.
