As a print pressman, you will be at the forefront of the printing industry operating a variety of cutting-edge machines, such as Heidelberg and Sakurai. Your expertise will directly influence the quality of products that drive business successes. Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup and Operation:Set up, adjust, and operate Kodak Plate, Heidelberg, Sakurai, Booklet, and Horizon folding machines for daily production runs.
- Material Management: Manage ink and paper supplies, ensuring they are appropriate for the job, and keeping inventory organized.
- Maintenance: Perform adjustments and preventive maintenance on the press, including cleaning, roller adjusting, oiling, etc.
- Quality Control/Inspection: Monitor print quality throughout the production process, conducting regular inspections to ensure color consistency, registration accuracy, and overall print integrity.
- Adherence to Policies and Guidelines: Adhere to Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO standards, and safety guidelines for compliance and quality assurance promptly reporting and resolving non-compliance issues.
Performance Objectives:
Within 60 days:
- Complete training on the specific printing equipment and software used in the facility.
- Familiarize yourself with safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Learn and execute daily maintenance tasks for the printing press, including cleaning and lubricating parts.
- Get acquainted with inventory systems for inks, papers, and other supplies. Ensure all materials are stocked and organized.
Within 90 days to 1 year:
- Operate the printing press independently for a variety of print jobs, demonstrating proficiency and confidence.
- Manage press setup, operation, and cleanup efficiently.
- Identify potential mechanical issues before they impact production and communicate these to the maintenance team.
- Establish strong working relationships with colleagues, including designers and finishers, to enhance communication and workflow.
- Analyze print quality data and make recommendations for improvements.
- Ability to set up and operate with precision and thoroughness to meet quality standards in a production environment.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in Offset Printing and Bindery.
- Completion of a High School education or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with the following material and equipment: offset print presses, sheet cutters, folding and booklet machines, scanners, etc.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical information and collaborate on problem-solving.
- Efficient prioritization and time management skills to meet production schedules.
Preferred:
- Work flexible and extended hours as needed within 1st shift.
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure the highest quality of finished products.
- Willingness to explore innovative techniques and technologies.
- Experience with the following machines: Kodak Plate, Heidelberg, Sakurai, Booklet, and Horizon folding.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes in printing processes or technology.
- Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
