About the Job
An 18-acre private estate in Santa Ynez is seeking a Full-Time Chef. This newly created role will be responsible to plan, cook, and serve meals from basic daily requirements to small dinner parties and family celebrations including table setting design to create a 5-star service atmosphere.
Schedule will be somewhat flexible, but most weeks it will be Wednesday through Sunday when the Principals are in residence.
Job Description- Overall accountability for day-to-day culinary operations, preparing all meals and snacks when principals or guests are in residence
- Prepare family and guest breakfasts, lunches, snacks, dinners, and private events
- Plan, prepare, and serve staff lunches when Principals are not in residence
- Support the Executive Chef when on-site
- Organize, clean, and maintain an inventory of the pantry
- Shop for all groceries with a focus on locally sourced, farm to table produce, poultry, meat, and other items
- Coordinate food and kitchenware orders
- Check freshness and quality of ingredients
- Maintain inventory of all food items for the household
- Standardize recipes and plate presentations
- Work with management to create a memorable experience for guests
- 10+ years related experience working as a Private Chef with a keen understanding of 5-star level service
- Commitment to working with fresh, whole foods
- Passion for food and a variety of cooking techniques
- Possess exceptional organizational skills, strong leadership skills, and be extremely detail oriented
- Proven ability to communicate concisely and professionally in email, text, phone, and in-person conversations
- Possess polished, calm, and highly discreet characteristics
- Flexibility with scheduling; ability to work both overtime and weekends as needed
- Driver's license with clean record required
- Strong references required
- Some post high school education - preferably in hospitality and culinary arts is a plus
- Local to the Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez area highly preferred
- Must be able to legally work within the United States
- Covid vaccination may be required
Pay Range: Base Salary $120,000 - $135,000 and includes medical, dental and vision insurance, and 401k match. Final package based upon experience and skills.
