Due to our continued growth to provide health care to the Columbus metropolitan area, we are currently expanding and seeking an Advanced Practice Provider, Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) for our Urgent Care. This position will support our Hilliard and Gahanna clinic locations.
Purpose: The Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provides urgent care and occupational health services under the primary administrative supervision of the Urgent Care Medical Director. This position provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and evaluation of patients in an urgent care setting and healthcare services provided including care during acute and chronic phases of illness, education and counseling of individuals and referral to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will work within limits of training, experience and granted privileges, and must possess awareness and motivation to seek opinions of other medical staff assistance when appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages Family Practice and Urgent Care type patients as well as Urgent Care procedures (lacerations, abscesses, fracture management).
- Performs first reads on x-rays
- Performs patient treatment procedures for most acute illnesses or injuries to include pediatric and adult care; I&Ds; suturing, etc.
- Diagnose & Treat patient ages Three (3) Months and older.
- Perform physical examinations on patients of all ages in an urgent care clinic setting.
- Assess, diagnose and prescribe for various illnesses and minor injuries.
- Perform occupational health services (i.e., drug testing, physicals, etc.)
- Works with pharmacy on any questions/concerns they have about a patient medication.
- Maintains working knowledge of diagnostic/therapeutic equipment used in the department.
- Works cooperatively with physicians or other providers in reviewing patient labs, communicates abnormal values to responsible physician, and performs necessary intervention.
- Collaborates with the nurse/patient/family/physician/and community resources for coordination of patient care via telephone, fax and electronic methods.
- Assumes accountability for patient care in making decisions, performing and delegating tasks as necessary, and maintaining a comfortable environment for the patient. Responsible for appropriate documentation in medical record.
- Recognizes patient rights and provides for confidentiality of patient information and for dignity through own performance and in relationship with others.
- Collaborates with other disciplines; promotes and supports research activities; and utilizes available resources to provide and improve patient care.
- Participates in staff meetings and quality improvement team efforts, including meetings to discuss quality assurance improvement initiatives.
- Attendance, promptness, professionalism, the ability to pay attention to detail, cooperativeness with co-workers and supervisors, and politeness to customers, vendors, and patients.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN-CNP/ Physician Assistant in the State of Ohio
- Masters level Degree
- DOT Certified (Required within 60 Days of employment)
- Clinical proficiency of triage procedures along with primary care clinic and/or urgent care experience.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids.
- Ability to educate and clearly communicate with patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment.
- Ability to plainly convey information both in writing and verbally. The ability to confidently navigate uncertain situations with both patients and colleagues and readiness to adapt personal and interpersonal behavior to meet the needs of our patients.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated leadership, poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Analytical ability and critical thinking to gather and interpret data and develop, recommend, and implement solutions while effectively using technology to deliver high quality care.
Preference: Minimum of one (1) year Advanced Practice clinical experience.
