Process Controls Engineer PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are a growing organization seeking a talented Process Controls Engineer to join our team as a pivotal member here at PBF Energy. This role is located at Chalmette Refinery in Chalmette, LA. JOB SUMMARY The primary duty of a Process Controls Engineer is to implement, configure, and support basic and advanced process controllers. This includes supporting regulatory applications based on the Honeywell TDC and Experion platforms, and multivariable applications based on the AspenTech DMC platform. This position will report to the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Manager. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES Regularly utilize the Honeywell TDC Distributed Control System (DCS) and Experion platforms, along with advanced engineering applications, such as: AspenTech’s DMC, abnormal event detection/real time advisory alerting, alarm management strategies, remote control performance monitoring, blending applications (or platforms), etc. Develop and provide support for basic process control applications using control engineering skills such as point configuration, loop tuning, control logic development, and identification of process dynamics. Maintain and modify existing process control applications and operator interfaces. Identify and develop new control schemes to increase process safety, optimization and reliability. Review instrumentation specifications and design for control improvements Investigates instrumentation and controls equipment failures and recommends actions to enhance the system and equipment reliability Provide technical support for the plant's instrumentation systems and equipment, including low voltage electrical control systems and some Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) Basic understanding of industry standards (API, NFPA, NEC, IEEE, ASME, ANSI, ASCE) Provide process control support during project development, execution and startup. Communicate and interact regularly with Operations, Technical, Inspection, and Maintenance business team members. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree required. 4+ years relevant work experience in a manufacturing/operating environment. Familiarity with the following computing systems/tools: AspenTech DMC process control software preferred Honeywell process control systems and engineering applications Triconex and Modicon PLC Systems Demonstrated experience with regulatory and advanced controls of manufacturing processes. Basic understanding of valve, orifice plate and thermowell sizing Able to demonstrate initiative, accuracy, effectiveness and strong communication skills. Excellent troubleshooting skills.
