About the Job
The Process Engineer will work under the supervision and mentoring of the Lead Engineer and other senior process engineers. They are able to perform various hydraulics calculations (pump calculations, control valves, restriction orifices, etc.) efficiently. The engineer is familiar with standards such as API 520, API 521, API 2000, ASME Sect VIII, ASME Sect I, etc. The Process Engineer will also perform consequence analysis modeling using the DNV GL PHAST software to help understand and address the impact of potential releases on personnel, equipment, and the surrounding environment. The Process Engineer will work with pipe designers, the client, and other engineering support to propose mitigation options.
Process Engineer Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform Relief Valve Sizing Calculations
• Develop system sketches and calculation packages
• Evaluate existing relief valve piping configurations for conformity to relative codes and regulations
• Simulate processes with process simulation software programs
• Perform well defined calculations and document logic and assumptions
• Complete sizing reports and project update reports
• Clarify data needs to data collectors and verifiers
• Research and assimilate information as needed for process calculations
• Manage multiple tasks
• Interact with the client on a continual basis
Qualifications:
• BS, or M.S, in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience
• 5+ years of process engineering experience
• Experience reading and understanding P&IDs, PFDs, Equipment Data Sheets, Instrument Data Sheets, Piping ISOs, and Pipe Specs.
• Experience with Process Simulation software (Aspen, Hysys, Aspen Flare System Analyzer, Chemcad, ProMax, Pro II, etc.).
• Experience withPHAST software is preferred
• Candidates must be within daily commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA.
