We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to provide professional and technical expertise in optimizing operational efficiency, reducing raw material costs, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Process Engineer will also manage new product development within their area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts to establish and maintain a safe workplace by enforcing safety protocols and promoting good housekeeping practices.
- Provide timely technical support to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness within the operation.
- Focus on resolving operational issues in the assigned department, while participating in cross-functional teams to improve overall operations.
- Troubleshoot production issues impacting downstream areas.
- Act as Shift Supervisor for vacation relief and assist with energy efficiency improvements and environmental impact reduction.
- Implement new process or chemical technologies, assess raw materials, and provide performance and cost feedback.
- Build and maintain relationships with various departments (operations, maintenance, sales, and marketing) and address customer quality concerns.
- Work with vendors to enhance technology with better products and services, while managing chemical performance, cost, and application.
- Oversee chemical usage and systems within the department and contribute to safety improvements, outage execution, and weekend duty coverage.
- Manage assigned staff and assist in laboratory testing and resolving quality issues.
- Identify root causes and corrective actions for quality and production deficiencies.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Pulp and Paper, or a related Engineering field.
- Preferably 1+ years of experience in paper manufacturing.
- Strong analytical, technical, communication, documentation, and computer skills.
- High level of integrity, with the ability to inspire trust and drive for continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to manage conflict and effectively lead others.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts (8 or 12-hour shifts) and supervise hourly employees as needed.
- Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
