Process Engineer / PLC Controls Specialist - Mahle

SUMMARY:

• The Process Engineer / Controls Specialist will support the development and implementation of Manufacturing Processes for HVAC and Engine Cooling Modules in our Thermal Management Production facilities in Ohio, South Carolina and Mexico. The focus of this position will be specifically focused on electrical and controls engineering related to development and launch of new manufacturing processe.Successful candidate must have experience in the field of PLC programming, electrical system design, controls engineering and vision system / error proofing implementation.
  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop electrical and PLC programming standards based on industry best practices. Work collaboratively with a team of Process Engineers to create equipment specifications which clearly document the requirements for a robust manufacturing assembly process
  
• Ensure assembly processes and equipment adhere to all applicable electrical safety standards
  
• Determine best practices and standards for robust error proofing based on the application
  
• Determine best practices and standards for manufacturing process data traceability
  
• Lead and manage design reviews, validation and runoff activities with assembly equipment suppliers to ensure that electrical and programming standards as outlined in equipment specifications are being adhered to
  
• Support installation, start up and launch of assembly lines at MAHLE production location. Manage equipment suppliers onsite to ensure proper equipment function according to specification
  
• Create new and modify existing PLC and camera vision programs as necessary
  
• Manage capital projects, budgets, cell layouts, development of equipment specifications, equipment purchase and validation.
  
• Responsible for the research and development of future production equipment and production line launch preparation activities to support flawless program launches. Develop new equipment/process through RFQ process. Develop training package for new equipment. Reduce scrap and improve efficiency and cycle times for assigned processes.
  
• Development of equipment capacity plans and MTM analysis.
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial,Mechanical, Electrical or other 4 year related Technical Engineering Degree is Required
  
• 2 or more years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering / Process Engineering / Process Planning / Process Development with a specific focus on Controls Engineering is Required
  
• Knowledge of production and assembly operations, end of line testing, automation and machine issues and plant operations day to day basis. High volume manufacturing experience is a plus
  
• Strong analysis, problem-solving, process and troubleshooting skills.
  
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  
• Basic knowledge of APQP disciplines, PFMEA, Process Flows, Control Plans, Machine Design and Man-Time-Machine studies (MTM)
  
• Some experience with Measurement system analysis will be plus
  
• Self-starter / Able to make decisions and perform job duties with minimal management input
  
• Ability to manage time and organize effectively with multiple projects
  
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  
• Must be able to communicate in written and verbal form within all levels of the organization.
  
• Travel is required for this position both domestic and international up to 40%.
