• Schedule: 7 am - 3:30 pm, Mon - Fri

Job Description

VersaDesk is seeking a highly analytical and strategic Process Engineering Intern to join our team. As a Process Engineering Intern, you will support our shipping and logistics operations by analyzing and improving various processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs. You’ll work closely with our shipping team, which includes a manager and five employees who handle both small parcel and LTL (Less-than-Truckload) shipments. Your insights will help optimize inbound and outbound freight, streamline our current shipping procedures, and contribute to a more efficient warehouse layout.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Freight Analysis: Evaluate freight expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend improvements to shipping strategies.
• Cost Reduction: Collaborate with the team to reduce overall shipping and handling costs by analyzing current processes and implementing more efficient solutions.
• Streamlining Shipping Processes: Work to optimize the shipping workflow, including order fulfillment, packaging, and scheduling for both small parcel and LTL shipments.
• Inbound Shipping Oversight:  Manage and oversee inbound shipments to our 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Time Studies: Conduct time and motion studies to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements in warehouse and shipping operations.
• Warehouse Layout Optimization: Assess the current warehouse layout and recommend changes to improve space utilization, material flow, and overall operational efficiency.

Basic Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and time study techniques
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and other data analysis tools
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
