Summary:
The process operator lead is responsible for all production activities under the direction of the Plant Manager and responsible for assisting in the safe and efficient operation of multiple separation towers within your area of responsibility. Assist in monitoring of performance to ensure that company production targets are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain safe operation of the distillation tower, work assignments, and managing the production of blends, chemical transfers, and ISO movements
- Assist with the daily monitoring of the separation towers, maintain tower tracker for the site, select next feeds for towers and ensure the smooth and efficient running of site operations
- Report any faults, site, and maintenance issues to Maintenance to ensure site safety and product quality
- Accurately monitors inventory levels of material into the column for separation and finished goods product. Plan bulk transfers and filling.
- Handles high and low-pressure gas and takes and monitors samples
- Demonstrate the ability to be a safety leader by fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring a safe work environment with a commitment to zero injuries, emissions, and leaks
- Work with management to coordinate overtime needs and coverage
- Must safely operate a forklift, clamps, and overhead crane when necessary
- Understands hazards of various gases, sizes, and contents of cylinders by reading safety data sheets and cylinder labels
- Ensures that processed product meets established regulatory, customer, and A-Gas internal requirements and specifications
- Follows quality protocol concerning required documentation of verifications and the documentation, notification, and handling of non-conformities
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and support 5S and lean initiatives
- Maintain ISO programs including 9001 and 14001 and comply with all OSHA requirements
- Any other tasks, as required
Certifications Required:
- EPA 608 certification required upon hire or must be obtained within 6 months
- Must be able to obtain certification within 60 days of employment for forklift, overhead crane, and clamp
- Any other department-specific certifications as required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; process technician experience or associate degree preferred
- Must have excellent math skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Previous experience with pumps, hoses, compressors, and preventative maintenance checks and lock out tag out
- Microsoft Office experience required
- Experience in manufacturing, or in the chemicals industry
- Experience driving ISO/ Tanker containers using a yard truck desired
- Gas chromatography
- Chemical blending and transferring
Physical Demand Requirements:   
- Frequently pushes, pulls, moves, and/or lifts up to 50 pounds independently
- Sitting 10% of the day; standing and/or walking 80-90% of the time
- Lifting/Carrying from one level to another approximately 20% of the time
- Occasionally moves cylinders that weigh over 200 pounds with a four-wheel cart
- Frequently identifies written information on cylinders such as serial numbers, manufacture date, etc.
- Frequently operates a computer using a traditional keyboard to input detailed information such as serial numbers
- Manipulations (seizing, holding, grasping or otherwise working with hands) up to 50-75% of the day
- Frequently drives a motorized vehicle or powered industrial truck (i.e. Forklift) and safely maneuvers in restrictive spaces
- Stooping and kneeling up to 20% of the day
- Frequently communicates detailed information to others. Must be able to exchange accurate information that others can understand.
- Occasionally works in environments with uncontrolled climate and exposure to outdoor weather conditions
