Education:

Experience:
- A minimum of 4-5 years of manufacturing industry experience is preferred
- Experience in injection tooling or pattern die design is preferred
- Six Sigma green belt and/or black belt preferred

Job Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring that the Wax processes (e.g., injection, pattern assembly, and pattern inspection) are performed in compliance with the methods, materials, and equipment specifications as detailed in the business unit process manual and/or plant-specific requirements. The Process Owner is accountable for process improvement, control and standardization in the Wax Department, and works closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
- Follow Howmet's EHS Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements along with all department-specific safety requirements.
- Candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the wax processes are performed in compliance with the methods, materials and equipment specifications as detailed in the BU manual, business operating procedures, and customer requirements
- Oversee the development of standard policies, procedures, and practices to ensure the processes within the Wax operations are standardized and controlled
- Establish and maintain the process owner's performance metrics and reporting systems
- Foster continuous improvement utilizing Six Sigma methodology, Process Management, SPC to reduce variation, improve capability and quality
- Responsible for determination of the root cause of any deviation from critical process specifications or downstream product specifications and providing technical support to resolve wax related issues
Job Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Monitor key variables of the manufacturing sub-processes to determine process stability
- Drive process stability and improvements through structured process controls and by promoting best practice methodologies and new technologies
- Perform/ lead and report on daily and monthly process audits
- Ensure the timely and effective resolution of issues resulting from internal, peer, and external audits
- Assume responsibility for integrity of assigned process requirements
- Interact with internal and external customers to understand technical requirements and resolve issues
- Contribute to the development of corporate best practices for raw materials, manufacturing techniques, control metrics, analysis, and new equipment specifications
- Responsible for reporting the critical process status on a daily and monthly basis to plant management and the Business Unit Wax Process Owner (monthly)
- Support location Production Control Manager and Supplier Quality Engineer in regards to wax outsource vendors
- Responsible for creating and controlling of all generic Wax Process Instructions (i.e., Activity Instructions)
- Responsible for daily interface and communication of issues with manufacturing, maintenance, facilities personnel responsible for the Wax equipment areas
- Responsible for understanding downstream product quality as it relates to the wax process and react appropriately to seen conditions
- Institute proper project monitoring, follow up and feedback system to ensure financial and contract targets are meet (Example: Yields and Rework)
- Foster continuous improvement using process management, designed experiments, Six Sigma, and statistical process control
- As a recognized expert in the wax process technology area, provide technical guidance to management and peers in areas of current or potential needs of the plant
- Act as a technical expert and liaison for all Outplant Wax operations. Assist with all wax job transfers
- Work with facilities and finance departments to plan and execute projects, including capital improvement
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
