Summary of Job
The Process Technician is responsible for setting up and monitoring the injection molding process to ensure optimal performance. This role includes maintaining and adjusting production equipment, conducting quality checks, and troubleshooting machinery to meet production and safety standards.
Shift: 2nd and 3rd available
Pay Rate: $18.00/hr.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and start molds, along with necessary auxiliary equipment, for each production run per outlined work instructions.
- Perform facility start-up and shutdown as needed.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance, tool room, and production personnel to meet productivity targets.
- Address quality assurance requests by adjusting and documenting process changes.
- Perform job changeovers, including the removal and storage of tools and auxiliary equipment.
- Conduct safety checks on all machines and processes for secure operations.
- Investigate machine and process malfunctions, taking corrective action as needed.
- Train and certify production workers, while monitoring performance for quality assurance.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and 5S housekeeping standards.
- Assume shift supervisory responsibilities when necessary.
- Support improvements in injection press operations, material handling, tooling, and other areas.
- Document all process changes and issues in the Job History Log.
- Perform daily safety checks, mold cleanings, and accurate transaction entries in IQMS.
- Execute RJG start/shut down procedures.
- Maintain accountability for assigned SPA (Single Point of Accountability) areas, ensuring clarity of expectations to team members.
- Authorized to halt production and shipments to address quality issues.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, the candidate must possess a blend of technical skills, education, and physical capability to perform all required duties effectively.
Education/Experience
- Associate Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, OR
- 4+ years of related experience or training in a similar role.
Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedure documents.
- Ability to write routine reports.
- Strong mathematical skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and interpreting charts and graphs.
- Valid industrial forklift license.
- Knowledge of injection mold processing and setup procedures.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
- Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds.
- Good vision (close, color, peripheral, and depth perception) correctable to at least 20x40.
- Willingness to work extended hours, holidays, and swing shifts as required.
