Procurement Manager
The Park Board of Trustees in Galveston, TX is looking to hire a full-time Procurement Manager to oversee and manage the procurement and purchasing processes for all departments. This accounting position earns a competitive salary of $75,000 - $85,000 per year. ABOUT VISIT GALVESTON AND THE PARK BOARD OF TRUSTEES
In 1963 the citizens of Galveston voted to create a specialized unit of government called the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston. The organization is responsible for overseeing Galveston's tourism efforts, Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIBP), and Coastal Zone Management (CZM). The Park Board is funded primarily through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and beach user fees for the six parks that they manage. Tourism pays for tourism as no sales tax or property tax is collected by the Pak Board. The nine-member board is comprised of volunteer residents with diverse business backgrounds. Each is required to serve at least two years and must also serve on one of the Park Board's advisory committees.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PROCUREMENT MANAGER
As a Procurement Manager, you oversee all purchasing activities, including competitive bidding, vendor selection, contract negotiations, and the acquisition of goods and services in compliance with local, state, and federal procurement regulations. You build and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensure timely delivery of materials and services, and address any issues that arise. You work closely Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Budget Manager, and staff across the organization to ensure that procurement activities align with the annual budget, optimizing cost efficiency. You review requisition submissions by departments and issue corresponding purchase orders. You develop and manage inventory control systems to maintain appropriate stock levels and minimize waste. You provide support to the Controller, CFO and Departments as assigned. Periodically, you provide support for audits through research and data compilation and analyze and interpret data and identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency.

You are a crucial link between our finance team and the Board of Directors, helping us make informed strategic decisions. You also ensure that our financial practices remain in compliance with all relevant regulations. QUALIFICATIONS FOR PROCUREMENT MANAGER
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field and at least three years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or related financial management roles; or associate degree in accounting or business administration or a related field and at least five years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or related financial management role, or a combination of education and experience totaling seven years in procurement, purchasing, or related financial management roles
- Ability to communicate effectively with a Board of Directors, government officials, clients, funding agencies, and related entities
- Ability to read, comprehend, process, and analyze complex financial and contractual documents and related information
- Proficient in MS Office, financial software, and databases, including reporting
Previous experience with government procurement, project management, or processing FEMA or grant-related contracts would be a plus. WORK SCHEDULE
This full-time position works Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
