Produce Inspector - 590 - RD EAST COAST CORP. OFFICE (Whitestone, NY) - Restaurant Depot

Candidate will be responsible for physically performing daily inspections of all incoming fresh produce deliveries.

Related Experience/Requirements:  

•  Complete reports & pictures & send to appropriate departments within required timeframe. Communicate to buyers & or supervisors all inspections. 

•   Communicate daily with buyers & supervisor.

•   Verify Purchase Order quantities and inspect quality for all inbound perishable loads

•   Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to receiving, storage, and shipping of fresh produce. Identify any issues with warehouse management & or Buyers.

•   Document temperatures of all inbound loads and report to warehouse manager and Buyer.

•   Responsible for checking for proper rotation of all product inventory and performing daily quality inspections for all fresh produce items.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

•   1+ years' experience in produce or other perishable receiving and inspection highly preferred

•   Must be able to read and communicate in the English language such as to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, read labels, and enter information on reports if needed.

•   Must be able to operate electric pallet jack

•   Must work well without close supervision 

•   Ability to lift 50 lbs

•   Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time

•   Team-player – flexible and willing to learn new things and adapt as the business evolves

Work in conjunction with Buyers & Warehouse management

Education/Training: 

•   High School Diploma/ required 

Schedule: Monday- Friday, Sunday. 40 hour work week with possible over time.

Pay range: $16.00-$20.00 depending on experience
