Come change the future of metadata management for libraries! Based in OCLC’s headquarters in Dublin, Ohio, the Product Analyst for Cataloging & Metadata Services is responsible for implementing OCLC’s strategy for helping libraries manage the metadata to make their electronic and print collections available to their patrons. The Product Analyst focuses on Connexion, Record Manager, and the WorldCat Metadata API.We’re looking for a skilled Product Analyst, who can contribute to all aspects of product planning, development and release process, and is enthusiastic about contributing to a highly collaborative team. We partner with UX/UI to understand customer needs, with engineers in planning and deliver of solutions, with marketing experts to release new solutions to our customers, and with business development and operations colleagues to continually secure metadata representing library collections worldwide.

Responsibilities
- Identifies, Documents and Manages Requirements. Translates product goals into functional requirements and specifications that can be understood and acted upon by the development team.
- Liaises with development staff to ensure that requirements are met
- Assures that development outputs meet requirements
- Works with cross-divisional teams to develop and roll out communication plans, training and product support
- May organize and lead cross-functional teams; recommends, develops, tests and verifies business functionality. Operates as a subject matter expert (SME)
- Directs implementation of service and enhancements or new product features.
Environmental Scanning and Market Analysis
- Analyze reports, publications and market research with significant implications for product strategy
- Provides detailed information for business plans and product strategies
- Assess new technology and its relevance and impact on product strategies.
- Assess competitive products for strengths and weaknesses against OCLC offerings
Requirements Analysis
- Creates high-level user requirements, detailed functional specifications, and release plans for relevant product.
Consultation on Product Planning and Marketing
- Contributes critical information to Portfolio business plans, product strategy roadmaps, operational and business plans
- Produces monthly progress reports
- Works directly with product and portfolio team members to provide input into sales forecasts/goals, P&L estimates, and product metrics.
Technology Assessment
- Assesses new technology and adds value to existing products by improving features to make create best in class solutions and/or reduce costs
- Provide detailed product support to sales and customer support teams
Qualifications
Minimum Required:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- 2 to 4 years experience in library services or library management systems
- 2 to 4 years experience in product, project or program management
- 2 to 4 years experience in supporting online/database services, preferably in the library field
- Well developed communication and presentation skills
- Financial planning and analysis knowledge and/or applicable experience
- Experience with market analysis
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Desired but not Required:
- Knowledge of OCLC products and services
