Position Summary:ITT Cannon is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Product Design Engineer with mid-level development experience in the connector industry to join the ITT Cannon Connectors N.A. team. ITT Cannon currently either utilizes external companies to design and private label backshells for our new connector platforms or we do not have backshell offerings. Backshells exist for some of the older legacy products but in many cases the designs are outdated and need to be improved. Starting a backshell design focus will allow ITT Cannon to refresh their existing backshell designs and add new backshells for strategic connector families.
Essential Responsibilities:- General engineering product setup, design and management
- Engineering BOM creation, documentation creation and updates
- Design of new components and assemblies
- Manage and plan multiple activities related to Engineering, Product Management and Operational support for new product development
- Multi-functional team member representing Product Engineering
- Testing support and overview within a Product Evaluation Lab
- Work closely with Field Application Engineering
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Electro-Mechanical product design, preferably in connectors
- CREO Parametric 3D Modeling/Documentation experience
- ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing, including GD&T
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Highly self-motivated and a willingness to make a difference
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with different departments.
- Working knowledge of MS Office products such as Excel, Word etc...
Preferred
- Experience in electrical connectors and the Aerospace & Defense industry.
- Experience in Filters, Fiber Optics, Micro-miniature and/or High Speed Data transfer a plus
- Knowledge in the use of high-performance thermoplastics, aluminums and copper alloys and the manufacturing requirements needed to utilize them
- Knowledge in MIL-DTL, Mil-STD and similar industry specifications and requirements.
- Experience in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Manufacturability (dfM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) principles.
- The ability to travel periodically (up to 20%)
