The Musco Developmental Engineering Team is currently seeking a Product Development Controls Engineer to work from our Oskaloosa office. This position will design, standardize, release and maintain lighting control systems for a wide variety of lighting applications. What you will do as a Product Development Controls Engineer:
- Design, prototype, test and document controls as they relate to lighting projects.
- Produce or lead product specific drawing development and documents for use by sales, production, application engineering, customers and contractors. Use AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Produce system deployment documents such as product configuration tables, wiring schematics, BOM’s, and manufacturing reference drawings.
- Review and evaluate product specifications.
- Manage project/product development from concept to final product being manufactured.
- Work with compliance for UL/IEC/CE listings and other country specific product certifications.
- Provide technical expertise on the application of controls and electrical matters.
- Perform electrical calculations for sizing electrical components and coordinating system components.
- Interface with other departments such as purchasing, quality, warranty, etc.
- Evaluate alternate components and materials
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with electrical emphasis
- UL508a MTR certification or ability to get certification
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of UL, IEC, CE, CSA, NPFA, and NEC preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and Inventor
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Experience with communication protocols including RS485, TCP/IP, DMX, MQTT and associated hardware is preferred.
- Experience with single and 3 phase power systems is required.
- Good understanding of EMI and mitigation strategies preferred.
- Networking, IoT knowledge preferred.
- Strong motivational aptitude
