About the Job
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
As our Product Development Engineer II, you will support the daily manufacturing engineering needs of our production of Nike Air products. You will work in a highly collaborative environment with diverse team members from different functions at Nike Air MI (including but not limited to: Design and Quality Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing/Production and Planning).
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You will balance the competing priorities inherent in a high-volume manufacturing environment while maintaining a passion for driving improvement and innovation in Nike Air.
An ideal candidate will bring:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering or other manufacturing related degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
+ 2 +years directly related work experience.
+ Knowledge of plastics processing as thermoforming, injection molding, radio frequency welding is preferred.
+ Experience troubleshooting industrial processes, which requires strong knowledge in electrical and mechanical systems.
+ Detailed and methodical approach to problem solving, with experience or classwork in Design of Experiments (DoE).
+ Exposure to Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma principles with statistical and analytical skills preferred.
+ Ability to work with associates of all levels including directors, managers, engineers, machine operators, quality technicians, line supervisors, and maintenance technicians.
+ Experience with CAD and 3D printing preferred.
+ Understanding of machine controls systems preferred.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will work on a team responsible for ensuring operation and upgrading strategic manufacturing processes, which produce Nike Air components.
Your key responsibilities will include:
+ Comply with Air MI Safety culture and expectations (including but not limited to 8 Safety principles, safety observations)
+ Provide technical support to Manufacturing/Production to meet Overall Equipment Efficiencies KIPs.
+ Design and execute experiments to understand key variables between material, process, tooling, and equipment.
+ Provide technical support to maintain, repair and/or replace equipment and tooling, as well as modify existing production equipment to improve both reliability and functionality.
+ Drive focused improvement initiatives for existing products and processes.
+ Help drive engineering activities for new products, supporting prototype development runs and drive commercialization of new processes and tooling.
+ Use Lean Manufacturing methods to minimize waste and enhance efficiencies.
