International Motor’s System Engineering team is responsible for developing and defining our vehicle systems’ functionality and interfacing behavior across the vehicle. Our concepts and requirements are guided by customer, legal, technical standards, or internal specifications for mechanical, electrical, and software elements of defined systems.
This position is part of the Systems Engineering team establishing and developing vehicle systems with a special focus on supporting Autonomous technology development in automotive engineering. This position will work closely with the global team, product owner, component groups, software engineering teams and validation group during product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
• Gather and elicit product demands including use cases, product requirements, voice of customer, and platform demands.• Define architecture demands, principles, and requirements to support desired system functionality• Analyze dependencies and interactions in complex automotive and autonomous vehicle systems within system-of-system contexts as well as with environment.• Development of appropriate documentation to support system development process including as a general overview of the decomposition of vehicle/product requirements into system requirements, design• Collaborate with functional safety and cybersecurity engineers to integrate safety and security into system design.• Collaborate with program team and product owner to support program goals and develop standard processes and approaches to ensure deliverables are on-time• Lead / participate in issue resolution activities during development, validation, and vehicle launch• Utilization of systems development tools and processes• Work in a team and contribute to the continuous improvement activities through participation in Lean projects, Navistar’s design standards, process improvements etc.• Problem solving and implementing solutions to the systems engineering issues• support vehicle topology / system architecture activities• Serve as technical advisor and leader to the organization and technical mentor to less experienced engineers
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
+ At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
+ Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
+ At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
+ PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
+ At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

• Hardware/Software integration activities across multiple component or system development teams• Experience with Systems Engineering fundamentals, including requirements definition and verification and validation techniques.• Experience with Agile/Scrum/SAFe • Experience with systems decomposition• Experience with concept design, use case definition, data analysis, root cause analysis and driving KPIs• Experience with engineering and quality design and development methodologies: (8D, FMEA, FTA DVP&R)• Direct or coordinated software development experience• Experience in modeling, statistics and probability theory• Engineering tool MatLab, Simulink, MS Visio, INCA calibration tool, Software configuration management tools• Familiarity with Vehicle Electronics, Autonomous Electronics (Radar, Lidar, Camera, Autonomous processor, etc..), Cybersecurity• Familiarity with various AI-driven vision techniques and sensor processing data/modeling techniques• Experience developing in safety critical regulated industries (aerospace, medical, automotive)• Ability to learn fast, and to take ownership of assigned systems• Strong collaboration and leadership skills• Ability to communicate something very complex to different audiences• Ability to deal with ambiguity• Ability to look at challenges holistically with a creative mindset to resolve system challenges and constraints
