About the role

The Product Line Purchasing Manager aligns the purchasing strategy with MPP Product Line (PL) to ensure supplier cost targets, capacity and footprints meet requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Aligns purchasing strategy with Motor Power Pack (MPP) Product Line Strategy to ensure supplier cost targets, supply demand, footprints to meet needs
  • Deliver BOM cost roadmap to support price roadmap;
  • Develop strategic suppliers with competitiveness in cost and other competitive advantages;
• Support development of the 10 Year Product Plan:
  • Work with PL Directors, PL Purchasing Directors (PLPD), Engineering and Sales to develop long term target pursuit plans and a pool of key opportunities;
• Support development and execution if the 5-year Business Plan:
  • Align with Sales/Engineering Match Pairs on future pursuits (Revenue Plan vs. High Priority Overlay vs. Op. Pool);
• Support benchmark competitor analysis studies, and drive execution of supply based opportunities;
• Work with Product Engineering for design to cost / design for purchasing activities;
• Drive early supplier selection/development to support earlier optimal concept designs;
• Support Global Commodity Managers (GCM) and Plant Purchasing teams in supplier assessment and integration of acquisitions to fulfill the program launching requirements
• Understand ‘should be’ cost versus current pricing and drive any gap closure;
• Support Make Vs Buy studies;
• Represent Global Supplier Management (GSM) function in product team meetings and drive necessary matched pair activity on pursuits;
• Regular interface with cross-functional senior leadership;

Qualifications

• Experience:
  • 8+ years of automotive purchasing experience.
  • Electromechanical experience and knowledge of related commodities and cost drivers preferred
  • Bill of Materials Management experience required
• Communication:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of colleagues across functions and regions.

• Professionalism: Represent the CPO and Nexteer with professionalism and integrity.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field
