Product Link Technician
JOB PROFILE
Product Link Technicians are responsible for installation of Caterpillar Product Link and Vision Link equipment, as well as diagnostics, service, and repair of the Product Link equipment after installation. The position is also responsible for assisting customers or equipment operators with training in the proper use and operation of Product Link and Vision Link equipment and technology.
This is a skilled service technician position that works largely independently or with guidance from the department supervisor. Work may be performed out of a company-provided field service truck at a variety of customer locations including industrial and commercial sites or may be performed at any of the company’s shop locations. Candidates for the position must be trained as an equipment mechanic or technician, must possess a set of basic mechanic tools, and must be in possession of and maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain DOT medical exam certificate.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- Diesel engine, construction equipment and/or truck engine training through accredited technical schools or relevant military experience preferred. High school diploma required.
- Two or more years of previous hand-on equipment or engine experience, diagnostics and troubleshooting experience with diesel powered construction equipment preferred.
- Able to work standard five-day schedules, including daily and occasional weekend hours as needed.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and a strong customer service focus.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and self-initiative, and the personal drive to succeed.
- Excellent communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The position is responsible for high quality installation and repair of Product Link, software files, and responding to customer needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner, and for ensuring maximum value of the work performed.
- The Product Link Technician should be able to read and interpret technical instruction, service and safety manuals, company policies and procedures.
- Works with mechanical and electric/electronic schematics and wiring diagrams; and demonstrates proficiency in the use of test equipment.
- Requires travel up to 25% of the time on a weekly basis.

- Know and follow all Company and customer safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, fully participating in Company accident prevention and safety improvement activities.
- Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective glasses, protective gloves, and protective clothing and footwear as required by the job.

Work Conditions
- All locations offer clean, safe working conditions; however, the position may work in situations where hazards may be present. Therefore, a detailed knowledge of equipment and engines is a must as well as a demonstrated proficiency in service and repair of equipment using standard safety procedures.

- Meet all eligibility requirements to drive Company vehicles, including a current, valid driver's license issued by the resident State, and maintain current motor vehicle liability insurance.
Physical Requirements
- Pass pre-employment background check, physical exam including drug screen, and meet all physical requirements for the position.
- Able to lift up to 50-80 pounds occasionally.
