The Position
The Product Quality Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the Quality Assurance Manager in ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction across Ergon's supply chain and refinery operations. This position involves leading investigations, resolving product complaints, managing audits, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to maintain the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between sales, customers, and operations to manage product quality investigations and resolve non-compliance issues.
- Coordinate testing, validation, and resolution efforts across departments (transportation, customer service, operations, laboratory, and customers).
- Manage product analysis and blending activities for terminal operations in collaboration with Ergon Supply & Distribution and contract labs.
- Plan and lead routine quality audits for supply chain terminals and laboratories.
- Provide technical support and quality assurance guidance to refinery teams.
- Identify potential technical challenges or product issues and propose solutions proactively.
- Prepare and analyze quarterly Statistical Quality Control (SQC) charts to track trends and present findings to the technical team.
- Respond to customer requests regarding compliance standards and coordinate non-routine product data requests and reviews.
- Assist Market Technical Engineers with product development initiatives, including sample preparation and testing.
- Maintain product specifications and acceptance criteria, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
- Support the management of the Ester product portfolio and maintain Product Data Sheets.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Chemistry or Engineering.
- Industry experience with a technical focus on product applications and quality management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in computer applications and data management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain responsiveness under pressure.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and participate in industry events or customer visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in product quality management, refinery operations, or technical marketing.
- Familiarity with audit processes and quality assurance standards.
- Prior experience supporting market development initiatives or managing technical projects.
