The Position
The Product Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality, analysis, and proper handling of products throughout Ergon's supply chain. This role involves coordinating product testing, managing customer specifications, and supporting the Quality Assurance Manager in maintaining high product standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage product quality, analysis, and blending operations for supply chain terminals in coordination with Ergon Supply & Distribution and contract terminal labs.
- Maintain terminal contacts, product databases, and participate in terminal and lab audits.
- Support the Quality Assurance Manager with investigations into product complaints, non-compliance issues, COA management, and audit planning.
- Coordinate pre-shipment samples and ensure timely preparation and tracking of samples for external lab testing.
- Manage incoming samples and coordinate the appropriate testing processes.
- Oversee the product creation process from initiation to final completion.
- Manage and update Product Data Sheets and review scheduled updates for accuracy.
- Maintain and update Customer Specification Agreements in Salesforce and align COAs accordingly.
- Maintain COA templates for optimal operation within the LabWorks LIMS system.
- Prepare quarterly product SQC charts to present trends to the technical team.
- Assist Customer Service by updating technical notes in SAP.
- Respond to customer inquiries and manage certification requests (e.g., USMCA, COO).
- Act as a liaison to Product Stewardship regarding SDS and REACH compliance.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Industry experience with a technical focus on product applications and quality management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in computer applications and data management.
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain responsiveness under pressure.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and participate in industry or customer events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as Chemistry or Engineering (preferred).
- Experience with product quality management, laboratory processes, or terminal operations.
- Familiarity with COA management, customer agreements, and lab information management systems (LIMS).
- Prior experience with Salesforce, SAP, or similar systems.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and participate in industry or customer events.
