Responsibilities:
The Product and Regulatory Counsel will play a crucial role in providing legal advice and support on a wide range of regulatory and compliance matters. This position requires a versatile attorney who can manage generalist responsibilities while focusing on ensuring our products and operations comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Be (or quickly become) a legal and regulatory expert in relevant state and federal laws related to dealership compliance, with a focus on state and federal data security, privacy, consumer finance, and safety.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
- Work closely with the development team and provide legal guidance throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring legal compliance.
- Be an industry leader in your area of expertise, drafting articles, guides, and other materials, and speaking both remotely and in person to dealers, lawyers, and others about compliance issues.
- Handle general legal matters, including contract drafting and review, governance, intellectual property, employment law, and dispute resolution.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and automotive industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

- Automotive dealership experience required
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school required, minimum of 5 years of experience working in-house or with a law firm (specializing in regulatory and compliance matters is preferred) or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Admission to the bar in at least one state, with the ability to obtain in-house counsel registration.
- Flexibility and a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and do whatever is necessary, in an exciting, fast-paced start-up environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet regular attendance expectations, and meet tight deliverables deadlines
- Proven ability to consistently perform duties with integrity, effectiveness, efficiency, and at the highest level of professionalism
PreferredQualifications:
- Privacy and cybersecurity experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations relating to privacy, data security, consumer finance, and safety, with an emphasis on the automotive (and/or heavy duty truck, powersports, or RV) dealership space.
- Experience with the FTC Act and various FTC Rules related to dealers, GLB, CCPA and other state privacy laws, and/or state and federal OSHA and related safety regulations.
