Job Title Production Director – Photovoltaic Inverters

General Role Description
Define, develop, and manage the business unit’s (BU) photovoltaic (PV) inverter production operation to ensure achievement of the BU’s Mid-Range Plan (MRP) commitments
Role Accountabilities
- Design and staff an organizational structure that can effectively ensure successful production and warehouse operations
- Ensure the effective design, development, implementation, measurement, and management of production to increase capability and performance
- Allocate resources within the context of the BU’s and the Company’s strategic direction and economic health to ensure alignment with business unit and company priorities for production
- Diagnose gaps between the BU’s current and desired delivery and inventory performance and deploy strategies to resolve
- Ensure client issues are resolved, coordinating with appropriate personnel, escalating as appropriate
- Monitor and identify internal and external trends and issues, with potential impact on production execution; recommend, develop, and implement appropriate responses
- Develop effective and collaborative relationships with internal and external clients and suppliers, domestically and internationally, to secure resources and deliver effective solutions which meet client contractual commitments and business goals
- Ensure effective risk management and communication, in compliance with Company policies and contractual terms and conditions, to protect the organization from liability
- Ensure accurate production cost estimates for cost and price evaluations of potential orders
- Ensure effective production and warehouse processes to deliver commitments, continuously improve operations, and reduce costs
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and good practice, through on-site review
- Ensure key information on production performance, for example, employee headcount and caliber, production schedules, product quality, and production ability, is acquired and monitored, in coordination with other BU management
- Provide BU senior management and Company executives, with timely updates on production performance, process improvements, manufacturing capabilities and client confidence, and similar measures

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of science in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or related engineering field; or manufacturing, industrial, or operations management; or business or finance; or equivalent via education and/or work experience
- 1 year of experience managing managers
- 3 years of manufacturing management or other related management experience
- 7 years of experience in an electrical manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated thorough understanding of manufacturing business operating finances
- Demonstrated experience in the application of continuous improvement/lean tools, such as, but not limited to, Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, or Transactional Lean
- Demonstrated success managing financial results to plan in a manufacturing or industrial services business
Demonstrated use of keen business acumen to develop effective strategies and determine appropriate priorities for improved business results
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic direction with hands-on, tactical work
- Demonstrated success leading teams to accomplish business goals
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, warehousing, maintenance and engineering
- Safety controls experience in a production environment
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated experience in the review of commercial terms and technical requirements of contract documents to ensure that project requirements are met and that identified risks to the business are managed effectively
- Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
- Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and an ERP system
- Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 10%, sometimes with limited notice
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in management role at an ISO-certified manufacturing facility
- Power electronics manufacturing experience
- Risk management experience
- Quality management experience
- Proficiency in Oracle
- Experience in a business with foreign ownership, preferably Japanese
