Production Editor - American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

If so, come join the American Society of Civil Engineers! We are currently seeking a production editor with excellent technical editing skills to help produce our 35 scholarly journals.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing quality-control checks of manuscripts, resolving copyright and permissions questions, and recording metadata
- Moving manuscripts through the production system by assigning production tasks, and noting issues
- Transmitting manuscripts, including tables, figures, and metadata to the compositor
- Checking blueline proofs
- Updating standing files, mastheads, general journal information, and information for authors
- Training new production editors, freelancers, and temporary staff in details of workflow procedures, copyediting, and department style copy editing materials
- Tracking scheduled deadlines
- Enforcing standards of quality control in all phases of production
The ideal candidate will have:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent knowledge of publishing is preferred
- Knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style
- 2 years of experience in publishing, specializing in production, and preferably in a scholarly or educational field
- Moderate knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel)
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional and Photoshop
- Experience with ProduXion Manager (preferred) or other online production software
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, authors, editors, and staff
- Demonstrated success working in a deadline-driven environment
- Working knowledge with XML and MathType experience helpful
