Job Summary:
The Production Manager (PM) oversees manufacturing operations and is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to production supervisors, team leads, and hourly employees. The PM communicates objectives, drives results with impact, and is a safety champion, collaborating with cross functional teams in sales, supply chain, safety, and quality assurance. The Production Manager aligns their leadership style with Master’s core values of relentlessly pursuing excellence, operating with high integrity, communicating with a positive attitude, and is innovative and solution oriented.
Essential Functions:
- Directs and oversees assigned area(s) of production, ensuring alignment with Master’s goals and objectives
- Utilizes Lean manufacturing methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase production and reduce costs
- Collaborates effectively with various departments such as Supply Chain, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, and Quality to achieve operational excellence
- Exercises good judgment in the utilization of labor, work in progress and operational adjustments
- Tracks and manages KPI’s – drives alignment and integration of processes to deliver consistent results
- Supports financial stewardship for the facility, including cost management across the facility
- Provides recommendations for annual and long-term capital improvements, as well as the Plant Operating Budget. Collaborates with the Plant Leadership Team to allocate resources effectively and prioritize investments that support operational goals
- Executes plant labor strategy, focusing on talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies
- Develops and maintains strong working relationships with all employees
- Ensures facility focuses on a positive employee experience, including prompt communication, accurate information, and consistent delivery
- Communicates expectations, measures, and assesses employee performance, and provides coaching and development opportunities
- Drives initiatives to enhance employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion within the plant
Supervisory Responsibility:
Provides direction and guidance to Production Supervisor(s) and Team Leads, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
Work Environment: Manufacturing Plant Environment: 100%
Personal Protective Equipment recommended and/or required on production floor:
- Safety glasses, or prescription safety glasses that meet ANSI Z 87.1 (provided by Master’s)
- Hearing Protection that meets ANSI S 12.6 (provided by Master’s)
- Steel-toed shoes with anti-slip soles that meets ASTM F2413 (provided by Master’s)

Required Education/Experience/Certifications:
- BS/BA Degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of progressive management experience managing multiple levels with well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Proven success building and retaining high-performing teams and provides effective coaching for individual development
- Strong ability to manage operational topics and challenges while aligning with business objectives
- Analytical thinker who can translate strategies into operation objectives with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple goals
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Utilization of MRP/ERP software and applications for capacity and resource planning
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt or similar TPS Experience
- Experience in leading or participating in 5S and Kaizen initiatives within a team or organizational setting
- ISO 9000/9001 Experience
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA and regulatory requirements
- Self-motivated leader possessing excellent teamwork and ability to collaborate effectively with people in each department and at every level within the organization
- Knowledge of General Accounting Principles and effective accounting controls
- Proficient in use of MS Office
Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Master’s Degree in Business or Engineering or 15+ years of relevant work experience
- Manufacturing experience within the commercial vehicle/bus industry
- Proficient in use of Sage, SAP, Oracle, or Syteline MRP/ERP software
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred
- Expert in 5S methodology with demonstrated experience in organizing and maintaining a clean, efficient workplace
- Expert in Kaizen principles and practice, including the ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions
- Proficient in an ISO 9001:2015 environment
- Bilingual: English/Spanish
Travel Requirements: Less than 5%
