Job Summary:
The Production Planner plays a critical role in developing and maintaining production schedules to meet customer demand. Ensuring efficient communication and scheduling priorities to maintain seamless workflow within HIS manufacturing facilities. This role involves strategic planning, scheduling, and coordination of production activities to meet on time delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develops daily and forward-looking production plans for both manufacturing work centers and warehouse kitting work centers. Manages work order release and prioritize releases based on production schedules to meet on time delivery requirements.
- Participates in daily production meetings, providing clarity on priorities and helping resolve potential bottlenecks. Monitors progress daily to ensure work centers have materials required to execute production plans.
- Modifies plans as customer needs and priorities change or as capacity or material issues arise. Updates production plans and key stakeholders when changes arise.
- Utilizes both firm and forecasted orders to ensure materials and component requirements for manufacturing are met. Coordinates with purchasing to ensure timely material availability. Identifies and mitigates potential shortages in advance of due dates.
- Anticipates and proactively addresses potential production disruptions, such as equipment downtime, delays in material deliveries, or capacity / material shortages.
- Collaborates cross functionally with supply chain, operations, and engineering to ensure all requirements to achieve the production schedule are met. Participates and aids departments in new product introduction activities.
- Aligns with and communicates with the sales teams to ensure daily production schedules and forecasts meet customer demand. Communicates lead times and potential delays in a timely manner, keeping all stakeholders aware and informed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent.
- Minimum of four years of production planning experience in a vertical manufacturing environment.
- Experience in planning integrated systems and metal fabrication.
- Robust ERP skill set, familiar with MRP concepts and implementations, Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with tight deadlines.
