About the Job
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision to schedulers, scheduling assistants and utility support in all manufacturing areas.
- Coordinate with Delaware and Vietnam facility schedulers as it relates to forecasts, demand planning, stock levels, planning, scheduling, what planning methods to use and overall accuracy of factory load versus factory capacity
- Review and maintain standards for processing time and routing maintenance, as well as monitor and verify accuracy of Bill of Materials (BOM) for various materials
- Coordinate supply chain logistics including direct communication with Buyers and Purchasing Manager for purchase of any material, components, and metal parts, tooling etc. from qualified vendors to provide competitive lead times and on time delivery (OTD) to customers.
- Lead the creation and review of manufacturing standards including process times, BOM, and recommends optimum shop floor routings.
- Responsible for MRP data accuracy in conjunction with schedulers
- Helps conduct load versus capacity studies in support of scheduling, manpower planning, and some make versus purchase decisions
- Responsible for reporting loading, backlog, capacities, efficiencies, and utilizations for manufacturing departments. In addition to planning and scheduling activities, cooperates and advises for scheduling and reworking activities, MRBs, stocking levels using ProMan ERP and EC system
- Coordinate closely with Productions Supervisors, Shipping Supervisor, Customer Service Coordinators, and Operations Managers to ensure consistent on time deliveries to customers
- Analyze and maintain reports for visibility of products stocked at each location
- Act as back up to the Production Managers, Customer Service Coordinators as needed
Education & Experience
- BS/BA or equivalent degree required, preferably in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Manufacturing Leadership or Organizational Management, Supply Chain Management
- 5 + years of progressive responsibility for manufacturing standards and capacity studies in a multifaceted, high precision high mix, low-mid volume, complex product mix manufacturing environment.
- APICS/ASCM certification or equivalent coursework/experience
- Experience utilizing modern manufacturing systems software and techniques
- Experience in manufacturing systems implementation and MRP scheduling/planning techniques, with strong knowledge of demand planning, load profile maintenance and forecast methods
- Oracle ERP working knowledge desired
- Understanding of Lean Principles desired
Skills
- Must have a strong ability to multi-task, deal with frequent interruptions and interact with others
- Must have good organization, computer and time management skills. PC spreadsheet and word processing proficiency
- Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills including SPC, MPS, MRP, FMEA and distribution requirements
- Excellent written/verbal skills
- Experience in determining both high precision machine and high craft, workforce capacities, independent action required to move tasks through all phases of project
- Works independently with minimum direction supervision and achieves project completion dates timely and within budget
- Demonstrated strong results-orientation
Working Conditions
- Working conditions consist of a manufacturing environment involving small and large pieces of equipment and exposure to abrasive materials and other hazardous chemicals. Range from office environment to working on the shop floor directly with technicians and operators.
