SUMMARY: The Production Supervisor under limited supervision from the Production and Assistant Production Manager will help develop daily production and employees schedules to achieve production and shipping requirements. Assist in scheduling activities of production employees and supervisors to achieve specific production, quality safety and sanitation goals. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with Vie-Del’s policies, the union contract and all applicable laws and ensure the security of the Company’s assets.
DUTIES:
- Plan and allocate production resources to ensure that all products are produced at the highest quality, for the lowest possible cost, while conforming to specifications and other applicable requirements.
- Clearly convey production requirements, priorities, specifications, and work orders to production employees.
- Coordinate production schedule, estimate machine hour and worker hour requirements for the completion of each job, and assigns duties accordingly.
- Direct setup and adjustment of production line and machines.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment and worker performance, quality of product, and sanitation of the plant.
- Analyze production, and resolve work issues.
- Enforce safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Confer with Supervisors to coordinate activities of various shifts and crews.
- Work closely with the laboratory to keep abreast of quality concerns.
- Communicate with maintenance in regard to any equipment issues or concerns.
- Fully utilize the production work-order system and augments it by generating other C-based reports and documents when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records documenting all relevant activity directly related to production and production cost control.
- Establish or modify production procedures to meet new production demands, or improve the efficiency of the existing practices
- Work in cooperation with the Production Manager to develop and establish written operations related procedures and policies
- Coordinate, conduct and track training given to production employees, and formally evaluate their performance.
- Plan and conduct regular tailgate meetings with production employees.
- Continuously seek to improve efficiency by monitoring, documenting and evaluating various operations.
- Prepare and submit written reports on various production activities
QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred and/or five years of related experience. Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer applications desirable.
2. English Language Skills
Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization. Ability to effectively present information, both verbally and in writing.
3. Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and budgets.
4. Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
5. Other Requirements
Ability to be detail oriented. Must pay attention to details. Must have a Valid California Driver’s license with a clean DMV record.
