PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Production Supervisor directly supervises associates on assigned shift(s) to ensure production guidelines are met within established timing, quality, and cost standards. Trains, directs, coaches and leads the production team in the day-to-day operations to meet production, safety and quality requirements. Drives the communication of production goals and objectives, as well as results in order to effectively motivate the team to maintain a high standard of product quality while maximizing plant efficiencies. This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws.

• Monitor and control personnel practices at the floor level, provides guidance, coaching and mentoring of hourly staff. Manages timekeeping requirements and hourly crewing.
• Manage associates and measure performance on an ongoing basis. Enforce and uphold Dole Packaged Foods rules, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain effective associate relations and associate development programs to ensure and improve associate motivation and productivity; maximize talent use, provide sufficient back up and equal employment.
• Comply with all Quality and Food Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure compliance with company quality standards. Ensure all associates know and understand the Food Safety and Quality plans.
• Perform daily walks and visual inspections of the Production floor in observation of unsafe acts or conditions; takes immediate correction action where necessary. Conduct safety/general meetings with team.
• Ensures that proper procedures are in place and being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, associate safety, and state and federal and company guidelines.
• Trains and instructs associates regarding production equipment standards and processes.
• Meet Production Operations departmental goals and standards on quality, recovery, productivity, cost and safety.
• Set up, start, and shut down all aspects of operations for shift.
• Provide quick and timely feedback to immediate supervisor on all exceptions regarding productivity, downtime, quality, recovery, cost, and safety.
• Collaborate with support groups including maintenance, quality, and warehousing to assure efficient throughput and reliability of equipment.
• Monitor standards and indexes needed to control production operations.
• Develop techniques and processes that will continually improve operational throughput.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership/supervisory role, preferably in food manufacturing environment
• Continuous improvement, Root Cause Analysis, and GMP experience
• Working knowledge of Labor Law and related laws
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Proficient knowledge of SAP preferred
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization; possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
• Balanced technical/mechanical knowledge
• Forklift experience a plus
KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration. or related field preferred.
• Must be able to evaluate employees fairly and objectively.
• Must have ability to interface daily with all support groups or departments.
• Must be willing to make informed decisions on the fly and learn from those decisions.
• Must be willing to accept constructive criticism and coaching from immediate supervisor.
