The Production Supervisor accomplishes manufacturing results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. The Production Supervisor has direct responsibility for maintaining quality and safety standards, as well as completing production schedules in the most efficient manner possible.
The Production Supervisor trains and provides development for employees and instructs them on the safe operation of production equipment, the maintenance of quality and production standards as well as the importance of following good manufacturing practices. This is a working supervisor position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accomplishes results by orienting, training, assigning, and coaching employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, evaluating job contributions and developing personal growth opportunities
Meets production operational standards by implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; by identifying process improvements and by initiating and fostering a spirit of teamwork and cooperation within and between departments and shifts
Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules when necessary and resolving problems
Manages designated operation area within approved guidelines, which include labor, yield, line rates and material use
Accountable for the manufacture of safe, wholesome, quality products in the safest and cost effective manner available
Responsible for assuring that the product to be produced is accomplished in a timely manner
Responsible for insuring that all product specification are followed and that any deviations from those standards are reported immediately to the appropriate individuals and that appropriate and effective action is taken to include the immediate termination of the process or process area affected
Inform Management, without delay, of potential problems/obstacles, which may negatively affect production /project schedules and deadlines
Detect issues in efficiency and make improvements
Meets and exceeds qualitative and quantitative performance standards as established by management
Has the ability to function under highly stressful conditions and interact cordially with coworkers to accomplish common tasks
Effectively communicate safety policies/practices to employees including enforcing safe work practices. Insures that departmental methods and work habits are performed safely and in accordance with good manufacturing practices
Ensure compliance with all SQF guidelines (Safe Quality Food), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements, all Food Safety and Food Quality and Food Defense requirements, all HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), as applicable
Prepare reports on performance and progress by completing daily shift production reports; calculating yields and recoveries
Responsible for obtaining prior approval for additional labor and staff
Approves time, absences, and PTO requests in accordance with policy
Participates in any and all facility meetings as required
Other duties as assigned

Ability to work around moving mechanical parts and tolerate wearing mandatory protective devices when working in high noise level areas
Able and willing to work in environments with extreme temperatures (cold or hot conditions; temperatures may range from 30 to 110 degrees), humidity, hazardous/loud equipment, and slippery surfaces
Ability to lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Associate or Bachelor Degree a plus
2 years of experience in food manufacturing or related field preferred
2-year supervisory experience preferred
Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
Computer skills including Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and other applications as needed

20 - 26 /hour
