About the Job
Cabot Corporation is looking for a Production Supervisor to support our Ville Platte, LA manufacturing plant. The role will supervise production areas to assure efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness with the best use of resources and in respect of safety and environmental to meet all production requirements.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Supervises team to maintain and increase safety, efficiency and skills and promote a cooperative attitude with subordinates. May oversee work in other related areas when rotating to off-shift hours.
- Recognizes the importance of process consistency, and continually works to improve it by initiating efforts to remove system (common) causes, and removing special cause variation, using tools such as SPC, failure mode and effects analysis. Reduces equipment downtime and delays between operations. Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Accomplishes schedule requirements for internal and external customers in line with appropriate priorities based on the manufacturing plan.
- Trains, provides clear instructions, and ensures employee understanding of production processes. Provides employees with an understanding of work group and divisional plans, needs, and priorities.
- Organizes tasks and activities for effective accomplishment of responsibilities and objectives. Utilizes the appropriate resources to accomplish plans and follow through.
- Continually monitors and improves manufacturing costs with respect to overall performance. Interfaces with Production Manager and Accounting to quantify cost savings ideas.
- Completes all required reports, records, and measurements, i.e. Production records, payroll authorizations, etc.
- Effectively practices Performance Based Management by coaching an developing employees, and assuring effective alignment with the matrix functions.
- Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001 technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
- Supervisory Experience required
- Chemical production experience preferred
- Knowledge of Emergency Response Procedures
- Knowledge in areas such as confined space entry, lockout/tagout, hotwork permitting, etc.
- Knowledge of Environmental Awareness
- Understanding of Product Uniformity / Variation
- Knowledge of Chemical Manufacturing
- Knowledge of Manufacturing process control
- Knowledge of Product specifications
- Knowledge and ability in Accident/Near Miss Investigation/Reporting procedures
- Technical knowledge of process and product technology
- High School diploma; some college preferred.
- Minimum of four years experience in a manufacturing environment
