About the Job
Leads and coordinates the activities of a production team to ensure that safety, quality, delivery, and cost commitments are fulfilled. Trains, monitors, and coaches team members to improve skill level, to ensure adherence to principles, policies and standards and to improve safety, quality and delivery in a cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities:• Plans and coordinates the activities of assigned team to ensure that safety, quality, delivery, and cost commitments are met.
• Communicates business priorities and production requirements and ensures that team members understand and are committed to meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Ensures that members are functioning as a unit and are integrated around the performance requirements of the team.
• Interfaces with the Production Supervisor, Production Manager, other Team Leaders, and site support groups (maintenance, engineering, sales, service, and suppliers) to utilize resources effectively to optimize “total business performance”.
• Acts as a technical resource providing guidance and expertise for team members in their daily technical work. May occasionally be called upon to fill in or help handle excess workload demands.
• Leads and facilitates continuous improvement of the processes and methods to reduce inventory, increase competitiveness, minimize work in process, improve quality, increase efficiency, and eliminate duplication of effort.
• Monitors team members’ adherence to company policies and procedures and provides appropriate feedback both positive and corrective. Addresses below standard performance as needed. Completes and/or provides input to the Production Supervisor on annual performance appraisal and proposed disciplinary actions.
• Monitors time and attendance and approves PTO.
• Adheres to quality policies and procedures. Proactively addresses quality system non-conformances by doing root cause analysis and engages resources as needed to resolve non-conformances.
• Performs all tasks in a manner that ensures compliance with HSE policies and procedures. Promotes safety to all team members daily. Proactively addresses HSE issues and engages resources as needed to resolve them.
50 percent of time will be in office environment completing clerical duties.
Qualifications:
• High school or GED and seven to ten years of manufacturing experience required (preferably in a team oriented, job shop environment). 2 – 4-year degree preferred.
• Group or Team Lead experience preferred.
• Basic blueprint reading and math skills are required.
• Must be able to read measuring tools.
• Requires background and experience in job duties in a job shop environment with proven success in at least one of the following manufacturing specialties: machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, or material handling, etc.
• Must be computer literate with demonstrated experience using business software (MS Office suite preferred) and automated business systems (Epicor experience preferred).
• Possess excellent communication skills written, oral and listening.
• Must demonstrate above average skills in problem solving, team building, total quality management and continuous improvement. Ingenuity and initiative are required to coordinate problem resolution and to execute the schedule requirements within a team environment.
• Must model the behaviors defined by organizational beliefs and personnel policies.
• Familiarity with ISO or similar quality standard.
