POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Professional Learning Consultant will play a crucial role in implementing the professional development component of PowerMyLearning's services to schools and districts within the Greater Los Angeles region. This role reports to the regional Managing Director, LA Programs or the Program Implementation Manager. The primary place of work for this role will be on-site within PowerMyLearning's partner schools across the Greater Los Angeles Area.
The Professional Learning Consultant will manage partnerships and deliver on-site professional learning and coaching to afterschool enrichment program staff. This work will include facilitation of professional learning experiences, including one-on-one and small group coaching on best practices for the enrichment space, including increasing student engagement, fostering a positive and safe environment, and supporting staff management. This is a unique opportunity to positively impact students' experiences outside of the formal classroom setting. The Professional Learning Consultant will support additional professional learning team efforts as outlined below. This work occurs throughout the calendar year, including during the summer. Contracts are assigned to consultants, contingent on availability and matching skills with school needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead program implementation for a caseload of partnerships, including both in-person and remote support as determined in collaboration with the schools and districts
- Manage relationships with school and district-based project managers and school leaders, including providing regular progress updates as determined for each partnership
- Collaborate with administrators and program staff at partner schools to develop goals to increase student engagement and achievement related to the programming sold to their schools
- Deliver high-quality professional development services grounded in the PowerMyLearning Framework for Teachers relevant to the afterschool space (including coaching and workshops) to schools and districts in their region
- Provide on-site guided support to afterschool program staff (demonstration teaching, observation, feedback discussions, people management, etc.) as they explore different ways they can strengthen learning relationships with students, staff, and families to support student success
- Work with program staff to set professional goals and collect data and evidence of progress towards those goals
- Ensure proper tracking and documentation of all partnerships, including of lessons learned to inform program improvement and evidence of progress toward student achievement and improved teacher instruction
- Communicate experiences and feedback from the field to inform program and partnership development
- Understand and communicate PowerMyLearning's mission and approach to staff, constituents, and other stakeholders
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Passion for PowerMyLearning's mission.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- 3+ years of K-12 teaching experience
- Experience coaching/mentoring educators
- Experience supporting a school enrichment program (before or afterschool)
- Experience managing people
- Experience working with youth and low-income communities
- Experience with leveraging technology to support instruction
- Experience with Culturally Responsive Teaching principles and practices
- Experience with Social Emotional Learning principles and practices
- Demonstrated experience leading presentations and/or training sessions
- Proven organizational and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a complex schedule
- Capacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated flexibility when priorities change
Preferred
- Experience managing school partnerships
- Experience working with an English Language Learner population
- Experience writing or developing lesson plans and curriculum
- Experience overseeing or leading professional development
- Master's degree or above in relevant education field
COMPENSATION
This position offers a competitive per-diem rate of $56.25 based on coaching or school leadership experience.
