About the Job
The Program Assistant / Scheduler coordinates all scheduling for residential services and assists the Assistant Director of Community Living with various administrative tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the Assistant Director by maintaining core schedules for our 8 residential Assisted Living Units (ALUs).
- Coordinate scheduling of staff in all ALUs, working closely with the Residential Advisors.
- Provide weekend on-call coverage per the monthly schedule.
- Work with PRN (on-call) staff to insure they are regularly working a minimum of 12 hours per month.
- Verify the staff is properly trained to work at particular ALU.
- Screen potential employees by conducting initial or follow-up interviews for Community Living.
- Assist the Assistant Director with staff orientation and provide necessary follow-up.
- Provide other direct-care duties as necessary.
- Assist in communicating progress, concerns and needs of individuals served to families, caregivers and other authorized persons or agencies participating in the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Assist the Assistant Director in maintaining files and documentation, as well as any other necessary administrative tasks.
- Process timesheets for residential staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, preferred.
- Completion of CPR, First Aid, CMT and other Developmental Disabilities Administration and Arc required training within 90 days.
- Professional communication skills and proficient computer skills.
- Valid driver's license with no more than 2 current points on record.
- Clean drug screen and criminal record (The Arc provides programs, services, and direct care to vulnerable adults).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
- Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required: Including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual.
- Ability to transfer individual from a chair to vehicle, bed to chair. Ability to position individual on a sling or Hoyer lift Ability to physically secure individual in a wheelchair to the van with tic-downs.
