The Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning works with George Mason faculty to enhance their skills as educators. Our mission is to support faculty across all ranks and disciplines, in all modalities, so that they consistently and inclusively provide students with access to excellence. We offer live workshops and academies, online guides, an annual conference, curriculum design grants, and teaching awards; we collaborate with multiple offices and units across campus to support excellence in teaching.
About the Position:
The Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning is seeking a part-time (20-25 hours per week) Program Associate to provide outreach and promotion/marketing for faculty workshops and academies, client tracking and file management, website updates, and general office support. The position provides flexible working hours and opportunities to gain additional skills in a team-oriented office that provides a wide range of client services. Responsibilities:
Communication and Outreach
- Manage regular communication to promote, enroll, and follow up with faculty who attend large events (Innovations Conference, Teaching Awards Ceremony) and smaller workshops and events (professional development workshops and faculty learning academies).
Project Management
- Collaborate with operations staff in MS Planner to identify timelines and personnel to ensure that major events and projects proceed smoothly and on time.
Client Relations and Data Tracking
- Collate, input, and sort attendance records;
- Draft reports on attendance trends; and
- Identify faculty for additional support or recruitment.
Resource Development and Team Support
- Provide support for website updates, financial transfers for faculty grants, daily office in-box management, and scheduling.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Fluency-level knowledge of major Office 365 applications, including significant experience with projects that involve shared documents, spreadsheet management, and large email campaigns;
- Significant experience meeting deadlines while integrating multiple projects in an office setting, particularly a university or client-facing operation;
- Demonstrated professional communication and interpersonal skills, including experience communicating regularly with clients online and in person, drafting and editing timely responses to inquiries, scheduling meetings, and following up on longer projects;
- Demonstrated responsibility for and success in projects that require attention to detail;
- Demonstrated responsibility for and success in projects that require collaboration, iteration, and revision as part of a project team; and
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and follow new protocols, office procedures, software apps or productivity tools.
