Title: Program Coordinator, Arches Programs
Reports To: Vice President of Justice Initiatives
Location: 692 Blake Avenue Brooklyn
Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt
Salary: $56,000 - $61,000 / Year
JOB SUMMARY: The Program Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of thee Arches Programs (East New York, Bed Stuy and Brownsville). Arches is an innovative, curriculum-based group mentoring intervention that helps young adults between the ages of 16-24 and on probation transform attitudes and behaviors that have led to criminal activity.
Major Duties:
- Supervise implementation of Arches Program consistent with contractual mandates, standards and procedures set by GSS and Department of Probation (DOP)
- Create opportunities for participants to maximize their potential through engaging programming, high expectations, and quality services
- Develop and implement processes that ensure integration of participant feedback in program planning
- Recruit, screen, hire and supervise Mentors.
- Ensure program utilization meets contractual goals
- Coordinate DOP technical assistance
- Ensure that staff participate in all required DOP meetings
- Ensure that mentoring groups maintain proper mentor/young adult ratios and fidelity to the Arches model
- Schedule weekly mentoring groups and individual one-on-one secessions with mentees
- Lead case conferences & staff meetings
- Develop on-call schedule
- Serve as liaison with DOP, having at minimum weekly contact with Probation Officers
- Complete and provide narrative and statistical reports to Good Shepherd administrative departments and public funders as needed.
- Monitor and manage program budget
- Ensure proper staff usage of internal and external databases
- Participate in agency work groups and committees.
- Represent Good Shepherd Services at relevant external meetings.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in related field preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience
- Solid understanding of youth development principals and education.
- Experience and comfort working with court-involved young adults
- Ability to work from a strength-based, non- judgmental approach
- Solid group work skills, familiarity with cognitive-behavioral interventions, and/or evidence-based practice, preferred
- Proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet and databases
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Must be available to work flexible, non-traditional schedule, which in addition to weekdays may include emergency on-call and weekend hours
- Sense of humor a plus
