Position Overview:
The Program Director is responsible for managing the daily operations of the SONYC after-school program, which serves middle school students and is funded by DYCD. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to effectively supervise a diverse team, develop and maintain program activities, and ensure compliance with all DYCD regulations. The Program Director will oversee all aspects of program implementation, from staff supervision to budget management and partnerships with schools and community organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of program staff, including group leaders and other program personnel.
- Manage program development focusing on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and project-based learning activities.
- Ensure all DYCD online database requirements are met, including weekly updates on attendance, work scope, program schedules, and staffing.
- Collect and organize data to ensure compliance with DOH regulations, maintain attendance and activity records, and generate reports as needed.
- Implement Challenge Based Learning, Clubs, and Health & Wellness workshops to facilitate learning in smaller groups.
- Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for students, families, and community members.
- Strengthen the connection between the school day curriculum and the after-school program through regular meetings with school principals and key staff.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and managing Middle School Summer programming.
- Collaborate with families to address and solve problems effectively.
- Lead monthly staff meetings to assess performance, discuss challenges, and celebrate strengths.
- Ensure program enrollment and participation targets are met in accordance with DYCD contract requirements.
- Produce program reports and participate in webinars, workshops, and meetings relevant to Youth Services.
- Represent the program at off-site meetings, conferences, and outreach events to promote the program.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Youth Program Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience supervising youth programs.
- Familiarity with DYCD and DOH regulations is preferred.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to foster team collaboration.

Schedule/Location:
- Full-time, in-person position.
Salary:
- $40,000 - $45,000, commensurate with experience.
