Job Description
The Master’s Degree Program in Digital Dentistry, established in 2018, is one of the few programs nationally and internationally with robust clinical and research components. It includes implant surgeries, complex restorative procedures, milling and 3D printing technologies using a variety of systems. Close collaborations exist between graduate students and other programs, notably Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), Graduate Periodontics, Graduate Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and Graduate Endodontics, facilitating comprehensive education in prosthodontics, esthetic dentistry, and implant dentistry utilizing state-of-the-art technologies.
The Program Director for the Digital Dentistry Residency is tasked with overseeing and administering the graduate digital dentistry clinic and residency program. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in digital dentistry, including proficiency in areas such as 3D printing, CAD designs, AI applications, implantology (both surgical and restorative aspects), and advanced technologies in prosthodontics, such as digital workflows and applications.
Applicants must hold a DDS or DMD degree or equivalent and preference will be given to those completed an accredited residency program. Board certification or eligibility is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a history of educational innovation, integration of digital dentistry technology in education, industry sponsorship, peer-reviewed publications, and industry-sponsored research. Prior teaching and academic research experience, including mentorship for students and residents are advantageous.
A South Carolina Dental License or eligibility for a teaching license is required. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. Participation in the Dental Faculty Practice for private patient care is expected.
